Bib Ophthalmic Instruments
Tim Baker of Bib Ophthalmic Instruments contacted HES initially
for a stacker to load and unload vehicles. The stacker also had to
be capable of lifting the sensitive optical instruments to a lift
height of 3500mm and with a capacity of 1000kg, to be placed on
a mezzanine floor after being unloaded from the delivery vehicle.
Purchase of a pallet truck with the stacker resolved the immediate
problems that BiB had in moving goods around their premises.
Such was the growth for the company in the second half of 2004 that all the available floor space of 5000sq feet was used.
Tim Baker contacted Handling Equipment Sales again for help in resolving this problem, a site visit took place and the following was suggested:
Racking would be put around the outside walls of the warehouse
allowing the existing heaters, power points and walkways to stay in
their original positions. The bottom beams would be placed at work
bench height which with strong wooden shelves became packing and
repair benches.
Once the installation of the racking was completed an inventory was carried out and was input on to a stock control system, this means BiB are able to offer a more efficient delivery and stock update to their existing and new customers.
